Overview

The Director of Communications for Teach Coalition will be charged with managing the communications and marketing needs for the entire department. This person will not only serve as a key strategic partner for the senior staff of the department but will also be charged with the responsibility of designing an overarching communications and marketing strategy, building processes; and ensuring the various state offices are coordinating their communications to stakeholders in the most effective and efficient way.

Key Responsibilities

→ Oversee communications and marketing strategy for Teach Coalition
→ Draft content for various Teach states, including press releases, mass mailings and news letters
→ Create social media campaigns that provide “evergreen content” for Teach Coalition social media accounts. Coordinate campaigns across various states.
→ Create and prepare story ideas and pitches for media outlets/publications
→ Coordinate all communications across the department to ensure efficient and strategically timed content.
→ Oversee contracts and standards of external partners and services that Teach Coalition works with.
→ Act as liaison to outside vendors – design firms, PR firms, media outlets
→ Manage internal resource allocation
→ Own and centralize the tools and services necessary for efficient workflows

Requirements

→ 5 years’ experience in communications and marketing. Added weight given for political communications experience.
→ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
→ Leadership skills necessary for establishing the communications and marketing operations discipline in an advocacy organization
→ Resourceful and solution-oriented in the day-to-day oversight of teams, projects and individuals
→ Ability to represent and effectively communicate the role that communications and marketing operations has within an organization
→ Deep understanding of the craft of project management, work flow and supporting infrastructure
→ Contract negotiation expertise
→ Proficient in fundamental software such as MS Office, workflow tools, social media content creation and collaboration tools
